Otto's Place: A Breakfast Gem in Galena, IL

You better call ahead! This place is incredibly popular so most folks can only get a table with a reservation, something I’ve never experienced at a brunch place! We came in on a Saturday morning and were lucky enough to grab a seat at the “breakfast bar”. I had the pork belly sando and my wife enjoyed the frittata. Coffee was delicious also. Their potatoes and homemade biscuit were also excellent. A very tasty breakfast.

This place is a must try when in Galena! My husband and I wish we had more days left in our trip just so we can try more of the amazing food at Otto’s Place. We had the pork belly sandwhich, smothered burrito, and the delicious blueberry pop tarts. The breakfast potatoes were so good and seasoned perfectly. The house made mayo and chipotle sauce were incredible. Spencer was our server and was great. Highly recommend stopping here for breakfast!

** Best to make a reservation ** Everything was delicious, the staff was very friendly and the service was quick. The drinks are good and the prices are fair. would definitely recommend this place. make sure to read up on the history of this location.

Otto’s was amazing! The blueberry pop tart was absolutely delicious—such a fun and tasty way to start the meal. The frittata was full of flavor, the omelette was light and fluffy, and the sweet potato hash was out of this world. I even had enough leftovers to enjoy it all over again for dinner! Knowing it’s owned by Kevin Scharpf made it even more special, especially after an incredible dinner at Brazen in Dubuque the night before. We can’t wait to come back! The service was fantastic, and the cozy, charming atmosphere is the perfect fit for Galena.

Felt as if the host, server knew we were celebrating (our wedding anniversary) So friendly felt very special-thank you! Our server Jake recommended Otto’s breakfast sando & country skillet. Both were exactly as Jake described and most importantly ~~delicious! Our first visit and definitely will visit again.

One of the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had and a great atmosphere for breakfast. We ate upstairs by the windows and really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich. If we are ever in the neighborhood again we’ll go back to try the homemade pop tart.

It was our first experience at Otto’s Place for breakfast before we were back on the road. Our waiter Spencer started us off with a cold glass of water while we’re able to take our time to look over the menu. We decided to split the meat lovers omelette which turned out to be the smart choice. I barely could finish my 1/2 of the entree! The amount of eggs was so fluffy and delicious while tasting the sweet crunchy caramelized onions . The potatoes were seasoned so lightly with a great crisp wow! However we were a bit disappointed with the amount of meat that lacked on the omelette. It’s called a ‘Meat Lovers Omelette’ but it turned out to be a regular omelette with some meat sprinkled on it. The Wired Rabbit Otto’s Breakfast Blend with Maple Cold Foam was delicious. A good pick me up for the start of the day. The courteous woman behind the podium was kind and emphasized how lucky we were to get in with no wait.
